For many years the Christiania Cargobike have had a special place in my heart. First and foremost because I love to travel by bike. This cargobike is in my opinion a beautiful, practical, environmentally friendly transport that doesn't create pollution. It is an easy pleasure to get around in cities, and you can always find a parking space. The Christiania Bike was originally invented and produced in Christiania where I am born and where I live today. When I see this bike, which is to be found worldwide today, I feel proud to know that it all started out just around the corner from where I live.
The below shown Christiania bike clip was my graduation exam project at Truemax Academy back in September 2012. We were free to choose our own topic, so I decided to recreate this Christiania bike from scratch. The toughest part of this project was probably when I measured every single part down to the milimeter with a folding ruler. I took a lot of reference pictures from the Christiania Bike workshop and was also crawling on the ground below my neighbors bike several times in order to get it just perfect. I spent so much time on the scaling and details that I almost dare say that this model is more accurate than the blueprints they use to build them. All in all I spent 10 days on this project. I'm planning on taking it further some day (add gears, brakes, brake cables, a bell, raincover etc.).
